Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - J.K. Rowling I decided that I had to start reading the Harry Potter series since everyone has gone on and on about how great it is. I really liked this first book in the series and I feel like Rowling did an excellent job in describing the world that Harry Potter lives in. At first I was a little worried about some of the "magical" terms, but everything was easy to follow. The only reason I didn't give the book 5 stars is that I didn't feel any connection with any of the characters. We learn a lot about Harry, and a few of his friends, but I just felt like there could have been some more detail there. Also, I felt like the first half of the book went by just a little slow. I think part of that may be Rowling describing Harry's world and some of the quirks in it. There were some surprises in the second half though. Overall a great book, but not necessarily one I would read again.
