City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)

City of Bones - Cassandra Clare This was the first book of Cassandra Clare's that I have read, and I thought is was excellent! She does a very good job of giving you just enough information about the "Shadow Hunter" world, that it keeps you intrigued, but you don't feel like you have to take notes to keep up with all of the information. This book had a lot of action happening from the very first chapter to the last one. I really liked the characters, and I could relate to a few. Very good book, but be prepared to read the next one in the series. She leaves you with a few cliffhangers. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast paced fantasy book.

Mockingjay (Hunger Games Series #3)

Mockingjay (Hunger Games Series #3) - Suzanne Collins What a great ending to the trilogy! If you liked the first two books, this last one is not to be missed. Suzanne does a great job of bringing you right back into the story from page one. There were quite a few surprises, and there were a few moments that had me bummed since I felt that I had grown so close to all of the characters. The ending is not at all what I expected, ( but i don't want to give anything away) but I'm still happy with the way she decided to end the story. Another great read from Suzanne Collins!

Starglass

Starglass - Phoebe North This was a god book. I felt the first half of the book moved just a little slow. There was enough to keep me going, but that was it. The second half of the book had me goin until the very end. There are a lot of secrets revealed, and I don't think I saw any of them coming. I did feel the end was a little short. I want to know what happens to some of the characters. I heard a rumor that a sequel will be coming out, but I couldn't find anything official on that. I look forward to another book after this one.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - J.K. Rowling I decided that I had to start reading the Harry Potter series since everyone has gone on and on about how great it is. I really liked this first book in the series and I feel like Rowling did an excellent job in describing the world that Harry Potter lives in. At first I was a little worried about some of the "magical" terms, but everything was easy to follow. The only reason I didn't give the book 5 stars is that I didn't feel any connection with any of the characters. We learn a lot about Harry, and a few of his friends, but I just felt like there could have been some more detail there. Also, I felt like the first half of the book went by just a little slow. I think part of that may be Rowling describing Harry's world and some of the quirks in it. There were some surprises in the second half though. Overall a great book, but not necessarily one I would read again.

Catching Fire (Hunger Games Series #2)

Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins This was a great second book in the Hunger Games trilogy! I would definitely recommend that you read Hunger Games first, but Suzanne Collins does a great job of explaining things/events that were brought over from the first book. I really fell in love with Katniss in the first book, and she has the same spirit about her in this book. We get to know a little bit more about some of her supporting characters as well. Just as in the first Hunger Games book, this one had its fair share of "wow" moments. The end of the book leaves you with a few questions so be prepared to read the last book in this trilogy. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the first installment of Hunger Games and anyone who enjoys a fast paced action book, but also has a bit of a love story mixed in.

The Hunger Games (Hunger Games Series #1)

The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins I read this book based on a recommendation from a friend of mine. I loved it! I felt like this was a quick read, only because it was such a good book I didn't want to put it down. Suzanne Collins did a great job of developing her characters, and there were plenty of surprising "no way!" moments. I have read this trilogy more than once, and I'm sure i'll probably read it again. This was a great first book for the series, and I'm already reading the second one.

The Scorpio Races

The Scorpio Races - Maggie Stiefvater This was a pretty good book. I really liked the characters, and I really felt like the story could be real. The first half of the book didn't have a lot of non-stop action, but that was a nice change for my tastes. The second half of the book had a few " Wow! Did that just happen?" moments. My only complaint was that I felt the book ended too soon. I felt as though there were parts of the story that weren't finished. But, overall this was a great book. I probably won't read it again, but I would recommend to anyone who likes horses, and the Young-Adult Fantasy genre.

Insurgent (Divergent Series #2)

Insurgent - Veronica Roth This was a good sequel to Divergent. I would suggest however, that you read Divergent first. Veronica Roth did a great job of developing all of the characters in this 2nd book of the trilogy which picked up right where the first one left off. There were a few "surprises" throughout the book, but I don't want to give anything away. I felt like the love story part of the plot was a little intense ( not graphic by any means, but Tobias and Tris really fall hard fast it seems) and maybe even predictable, but I don't think it took away from the book at all. I would recommend this book to anyone who has read other books by Veronica Roth and enjoyed them, or to anyone who enjoys a fast moving fantasy book.

Divergent (Divergent Series #1)

Divergent - Veronica Roth This was the first book from Veronica Roth that I had ever read, and I wasn't entirely sure of what to expect. This book was great! At first I really felt like it had the same feeling as The Hunger game series, and I wasn't sure if I was happy about that. As the book went on, and I started to see what kind of character Tris was turning out to be it was great! There were a lot of little twists and turns that I hadn't expected. I don't want to give anything away, but the ending is very surprising. This is a must read for anyone who enjoys the young adult genre.

The Mark of Athena (Heroes of Olympus)

The Mark of Athena - Rick Riordan I love this series by Rick Riordan. I thought the twists and turns in this book were great. I didn't see the end coming at all, and now I can't wait to read the next book in the series. The only small complaint I had is that in the beginning of the book, it was hard to follow all 7 of the main characters. But Rick Riordan does a great job bringing it all together in the end. If you have been reading the Heroes of Olympus series this is one not to miss.
